2010-01-12Report of the brief Council Meeting held on Jan. 19, 2010. [The regular meeting of Jan. 5 was cancelled due to freezing rain.]
1. Opening:Elder Knier led in devotions. He read Dan.6:1-23 and a meditation which pointed us to the sovereignty of God Whom we can trust under all circumstances.
2. The minutes of the meeting of council of Dec. 1, 2009 were approved.
3. Council decided to donate all Blue Hymnals to Christian Salvage Mission, if they like to have them. We will keep ±50 for our own use.
4. Council decided to hold a special collection on Sun. Feb. 7th for the deficit of 2009. Further details will be shown on the Sunday bulletin.
5. Council acquiesced in the termination of membership of Stewart DeJong who lives in N.Augusta with his family and now attends “The Pier” in Brockville.
6. Council acquiesced in the termination of membership of Joseph Jansen who, with his young family, attends the Roman Catholic Church in Iroquois.
7. Council approved the transfer of membership of Andrea Veerman, who lives in Cornwall, to Immanuel CRC of Cornwall. Council rejoices in the fact that on Sun. Jan. 24, she and her sister Errika hope to profess the Lord publicly in that church. Errika & Neil’s twin-girls Abigail and Olivia will be baptized in that service as well.
8. Council accepted the memberships of Nicole Van’tFoort and her son Braydon from Ottawa-Calvin CRC. Council welcomes Nicole and Braydon and hopes that they will
feel at home among us here.
9. Council approved the transfer of memberships of Garry and Shelley DeJong to the First CRC of Kemptville. This couple has served our congregation in many ways. We are thankful for all they did. May they be blessed in Kemptville and also be a blessing there.
10. Will Brunsveld reported for the F.A.Com.
11. The pastor presented his monthly report of all his activities among us for the month of December. The chairman thanked him for his diligent work.
12. Council started to make arrangements for the meeting of Classis which will be held, D.V. in our church on March 5 + 6.
13. Closing (8:45 p.m.): Elder Knier led in a closing prayer.
