2010-02-02Brief Report of the council meeting, held Feb. 2, 2010
1. Opening at 7:30 p.m.: Elder Jack Menkhorst led in devotions. He read Acts 5:32-end, we sang
“Now Thank We All Our God”, and he led in prayer;
2. The minutes of the Jan. 19/’10 meeting were approved without changes;
3. Council acquiesced in the withdrawal of membership by baptism of Michael Honders;
4. Worship Com.: Grant Cousins gave a report of the work & actions of this com.;
5. Deacon Rick Johnston presented a tentative Schedule of Collections for 2010;
6. Our pastor presented his usual sheet with a list of activities, meetings, visits, etc. for Jan./10;
7. Council is reconsidering whether to hold collections for Mortgage Reduction or not;
8. Council approved a 4-page document dealing with a Director of Youth and Young Adult
Ministries, which includes a job-description;
9. Council also decided to present this whole matter of #8 to the congregation at its Spring
Congregational Meeting;
10.Council completed the Classical Credential Form and agreed to delegate the Pastor and
Deacon H. Schuler to the meeting of C.E.C. on March 5 & 6, D.V.;
11.Council completed the Pastoral Evaluation of our pastor and an Ad Hoc com. was appointed
to tabulate the results for the March meeting of council;
12. At 9:35 p.m. Elder Menkhorst led in a closing prayer. Absent was: Elder H. Douma.
