2010-04-06Brief Report of Council Meeting, held April 6, 2010
1. Opening (7:35 p.m.) After the chairman welcomed everybody, Mark Geertsema led in opening devotions. He read 1 Peter 1:3-12, prayed and we sang “Rejoice, the Lord is King”. Absent: Grant Cousins & Tim Van’tFoort.
2. CHURCH VISITORS: Rev. Jacob Boer and Elder Fred Horst from Montreal asked council all kinds of questions about the calling and tasks of elders, deacons, pastor, and about preaching, visiting, special projects, etc. A very thorough and helpful visit. A report will be sent to council in the near future.
3. Council approved the minutes of its meeting of March 4th;
4. Errika Beckstead-Veerman had requested transfer of her membership by baptism
to Immanuel CRC of Cornwall. Council approved that;
5. Council received a Thank You letter from the Williamsburg Scouts for use of the
facilities for their annual banquet;
6. Council approved the annual Fin. Statements for 2009 for presentation to the
congregation at its congregational meeting on April 29th;
7. The Educ. & Evang. Committees had brief reports for council;
8. The pastor presented his monthly report for March 2010 listing all kinds of activities and functions. He keeps himself very busy in our congregation.
9. The clerk mentioned that the final touches for the new directory are being made;
10. Council put together the agenda for the Congregational Meeting, scheduled for D.V. April 29th;
11. Closing (10:15 p.m.) Deacon Mark Geertsema closed the meeting with prayer.
