2009-11-03Brief Report of Council Meeting of Nov. 3, 2009.
1. At 7:25 p.m. Deacon Hans Schuler led the Opening Devotions;
2. All members were present for this meeting;
3. The Minutes of the Council Meetings of Oct. 6 and Oct. 20 were approved;
4. The Pastor presented a draft Set of Guidelines for a Common Law Living Policy, which council will study further;
5. Council decided to change the time of the evening worship service from 7:30 to 7:00, starting Sunday, Dec. 6th; D.V.
6. Council approved some names of couples to be asked to become part of the Pastor Relations Com.;
7. Council approved the Agenda for the Congregational Meeting, to be held Nov.26th, the Lord willing;
8. Before long we may see our pastor’s full sermons on our website;
9. Council approved the job description of the Youth & Young Adults Director/Coordinator, and it will introduce the whole matter to the congregation on Nov. 26th;
10. Council agreed to present the Proposed Budget for 2010 of $ 266,314.69 to the congregation for its approval on Nov. 26th;
11. The F.A.C. reported on some items;
12. The pastor presented his monthly account of activities for the month of Oct., 2009;
13. Council approved that the pastor takes his final 1½ weeks of holidays for 2009 from Dec. 2-12;
14. The deacons reported on a number of activities they are involved in: Parcels for Seafarers, Financial arrangement with Ottawa Chr. Counselling Services, and plans to treat the seniors with a luncheon/dinner just prior to Christmas;
15. Our delegates to Classis gave a preliminary report;
16. Council decided to temporarily stop the handshaking of pastor/elder and congregation after the services due to the H1N1 flu;
17. Work on a new Directory of our church will soon begin.
18. At 10:10 p.m. Deacon Schuler closed the meeting with prayer;
